  2. How important is NORSOK M-650 Qualifiaction?

Divergence between M-630 and Oil Company / Main Contractor Requirements

M-630 revision 6 in October 2013; re-issued in April 2014. The April changes were non trivial; neither the standard nor the material data sheets were up-issued and no one was advised of the change.

A consequence of the October 2013 and April 2014 revisions is a growing divergence between the material data sheet requirements in NORSOK M-630 and Oil Company specification requirements. The following comments are indicative of the differences

    Test Locations

Typically "test specimens at 1/4T", additional testing "near centre or inner wetted surface"

    Chemistry

    Typically Nitrogen content 0.14…

  7. Caution with Cloud Services !!!

Cloud services, still need to mature like Iaas, Paas, Saas...at current rates not have proper control on how to bill the customer, like insects to attract to flame, any start-ups adopted cloud services of big companies...there is possibility of burn resources due to gaps in their utilization of services ( If not planned properly)... cloud gains bill the companies continuously without proper metering on usage ...bill the customers....Currently there is not proper standards how to charge cloud services and measure utilization basis.

  8. Create Wealth for Your Life and Beyond! Just 3 Simple Steps!

    What is wealth?

Wealth is a state of mind. It is not strictly any number.

It is actually a feeling of “enough” - without fear or worry.

If your focus is on money as a measure of your wealth, a feeling of enough money is an indication for being wealthy. The truth is that money is a part of your wealth.

If one only had money they would starve. Aristotle (384 – 322 B.C.) contended that the components of wealth were coined money, property, livestock, implements, and slaves.

Rich Dad Poor Dad famous Robert Kiyosaki sees a difference between the…

  12. gap between the borrowers and lenders expectations

I think there is some gap between the demand and supply sides... as traditionally during financial crises investors prefer to work with existing customers/projects/activities... while there is huge demand for debt/equity investment... but demand side cant get what they expect...
Simply because there is lower trust on the borrowers... during this period... and instead of getting their loans/investments they get a number of unsuitable options from lenders which cant meet their expectations... and there are a lot of scammers between them who diminish such trust with upfront payments requirements... Zintro can be a good platform to improve communication between these…

  15. A Tale of Two Clinical Diagnostic Companies by Ken_Powell

Quest Diagnostics and LabCorp are the two largest commercial reference labs (CRLs) in the US. CRLs are an essential component in healthcare delivery, providing vital routine and esoteric clinical diagnostic test results to physicians, hospitals and numerous alternate site market segments. Since over 70% of all clinical decisions are made on the basis of a diagnostic test result, the value of clinical diagnostic testing in the healthcare continuum speaks for itself.

Last week LabCorp reported 3 percent revenue growth for Q3. Q3 revenues were $1.46 billion versus $1.42 billion in 2012. Contrast this against an almost 2% revenue drop at…

  16. Clinical Labs Cut Costs but Face Future Challenges by Ken_Powell

Taking a play from many healthcare payer playbooks, hospital labs have instituted cost cutting and proactive screening programs that yield substantial bottom line benefits. Copying third party payer pre-certification programs for high-cost tests, a Florida healthcare system initiated an esoteric test approval program for any request in excess of $1,000. The result of this program was an annual savings of $220,000. The lab then went on to introduce and monitor test formularies designed to reduce the volume of send out tests to commercial labs. This saved $74,000 and utilizing “best practices” for blood products added another $412,000 in savings.

    But…

  17. Insurers Initiate Preauthorization Programs for Genetic Tests by Ken_Powell

In an effort to control the rapidly escalating costs and inappropriate use of expensive genetic tests, Cigna (NYSE: CI) has implemented a program requiring genetic counseling and pre-authorization for select genetic tests. Other insurers such as Aetna have also instituted such programs after studies have shown that up to 50% or more of the genetic tests ordered by physicians.

The market for these and other esoteric tests is already larger and expected to become the largest segment of the $52 billion dollar global In Vitro Diagnostic (IVD) industry. Back in 2010, United health (NYSE: UNH) conducted a study that found…

  18. US-Swiss Agreement Puts Swiss Banks and US Non FBAR Filers at great risk!

On August 29, 2013 we posted Swiss Banks Agree to Plan to End Past US Tax Evasion Issues! where we discussed that the Swiss banks were ready to pay hefty fines for sheltering United States tax fugitives under the terms of a new deal given the green light by the Swiss government. t reflects the long-standing desire of the US to end the decades-long practice of Swiss banks, supported by their government, of providing safe haven for US tax evaders through a wall of secrecy and a “don’t ask, don’t tell” policy.

Now the details of this agreement are coming…

  19. Vermillion and Quest Diagnostics Part Ways by Ken_Powell

Vermillion has long struggled with its OVA1 In Vitro Diagnostics Multi-Variant Index Assay (IVDMIA) for ovarian cancer. OVA1 is one of a handful of FDA approved IVDMIAs and was predicted to have a much greater market presence than actually occurred, despite its partnership with Quest Diagnostics, the largest commercial reference lab in the US. Now, Vermillion announced that the company has terminated its licensing agreement with Quest for OVA1 and Vasclir diagnostic tests. CEO Thomas McLain said that following the termination of their long standing relationship, Vermillion would be able to offer OVA1 through other reference labs and gain greater…

  20. Members of Congress Join Laboratory Developed Test Controversy by Ken_Powell

Nine Democratic Representatives are urging the Obama Administration to release the FDA’s draft guidance on the regulation of Laboratory Developed Tests (LDTs).

A letter sent to Sylvia Mathews Burwell, the Director of the Office of Management and Budget said that the development and widespread use of advanced diagnostics require that the FDA move its guidance forward to “ensure the appropriate and efficient oversight of safe and effective diagnostics”. The legislators further wrote that the lack of FDA oversight “could put patients at safety risks without the FDA’s assurance that the tests (LDTs) are effective.

Molecular diagnostics is one of the…
